10 best seeds for your next survival world

A good survival seed is not about one crazy landmark. It is about what is within walking distance of spawn. Here is how to judge one in a minute, plus seeds to try.

What makes a seed good for survival

Most "best seed" lists chase screenshots. For a real survival world you want wood, food, water and a village close to spawn, a mix of biomes within 1,000 blocks, and at least one cave or ravine entrance so you can mine early.

  • Trees within 50 blocks. No wood means no tools, and a slow first night.
  • A village within 500 blocks. Beds, food, and villagers to trade with later.
  • Mixed biomes. Plains or meadow for building, forest for wood, a mountain for iron.
  • Water nearby. For farms, fishing and an early bucket clutch.
  • An exposed cave. Saves you from strip-mining for your first iron.
