Rare spawn seeds: villages next to strongholds

A village sitting on top of a stronghold means beds, food and an End portal in one place. Here is how those seeds happen and how to find one.

Why this combo is so good

Normally you spend hours finding a stronghold with eyes of ender. When a village is right on top of one, you get a ready-made base, a trading hub, and a short walk to the End.

How strongholds are placed

In Java Edition, strongholds generate in rings around the world origin. The first ring holds 3 strongholds, between about 1,280 and 2,816 blocks from 0, 0. So these seeds never have them right at spawn, but a village can sit on top of one in that first ring.

RingStrongholdsDistance from 0, 0
131,280 to 2,816 blocks
264,352 to 5,888 blocks
3107,424 to 8,960 blocks

Finding one yourself

  1. 1
    Throw an eye of ender

From spawn, throw one and note the direction it flies.

  2. 2
    Walk and throw again

Go a few hundred blocks, throw again, and follow where the two lines cross.

  3. 3
Look for villages on the way

If the crossing point is a village, dig down under its center.

  4. 4
    Save the seed

Write the seed and coordinates down so you can share them.

The best End run is the one that starts from your own front door.
